Max’s place was one of a few bars and nightclubs on Patpong road in Bangkok at the time, which catered mostly to Air Force guys on R&R during the war. Mostly Air Force in Thailand due to the Thai government letting them use all their air and naval bases in the country. Looks like Joe enjoyed his time there. Tailor made.
